Eulogy for a friend — the version only you could give
A friend's eulogy does something the family's can't: it tells the room who they were when no one was supervising — the inside joke, the 2 a.m. call, the trip that went wrong and became the story. Lead with the thing only a friend would know, not the résumé of their life.
What helps us write a good one
- ·Their name + how you two actually met (be honest, even if it's mundane)
- ·One running joke, nickname, or phrase that was only yours
- ·A time they showed up for you — or you for them — that the family never saw
- ·What they were like as a friend specifically, not as a parent/spouse/colleague
- ·What's off-limits — the falling-out, the diagnosis, the habit (we obey it strictly)
